She really listened to me and got the important elements of my story that should be brought forward in my case. I’d like to give you context to the story I’m about to tell. In typical fashion – Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Boy and Girl have a son and hope to start a life… Then “life” happens. We split… Which is NEVER good for anyone regardless of the circumstances. Boy cancels plans to move west from the east coast… So with that, I will get to the substantive review that involves Parris and her team.
On the outset of my legal woes I decided that I would handle the case myself. Be accommodating. After all, I believed that I was a fair and compassionate person. In that, I thought not fighting was the best course of action to ease things with my ex and son. I was wrong. BIG mistake. I have a acronym that I will follow if I’m faced with this again. N.A.R.Y = Never Again Represent Yourself…
After nearly a little over a year of bending and yielding to my exes demands I finally decided to get some help. (btw, this came after my ex (falsely reported) filed a suit with DCSS claiming I owed back child support – which was and is inaccurate.)
Enter Parris and her team – I presented them with my problem and the issues I had faced. While also being a bit embarrassed that I decided to represent myself in the previous litigation. (But I digress…) I gave Parris and her team everything. Every email I could find, cancelled checks, attempts to “make nice” whatever I could find to have someone that would advocate for me and my side of the equation. First things first, they educated me on basic family law and set expectations as to the cost, process and outcome. Along with my rights as a father in the state of California. That was invaluable.
